Roadway Worker Training (RWT)
Mandatory FRA‑aligned training for contractors working within 25 feet of active railroad track. Practical, compliant, and certificate‑ready.
Why This Course
This course is required for any contractor whose employees will work within 25 feet of a carrier’s track. Whether the track is owned by a Short Line or a Class I carrier, employees must be Roadway Worker trained before work begins. The course covers required PPE, employee protection procedures, working under an Employee in Charge (EIC) or Flagman, and scenario‑based safety for grinding, welding, track repair machines, and other common tasks.

Who this applies to:
- Contractors and subcontractors working within 25 feet of track
- Maintenance crews, welders, grinders, and equipment operators who enter trackside work zones
- Supervisors responsible for on‑site safety and compliance
By course completion learners will be able to:
- Identify hazards associated with working near railroad tracks
- Select and use appropriate PPE for common trackside tasks
- Follow employee protection procedures under an EIC or Flagman
- Complete pre‑work risk checks and report hazards correctly
- Demonstrate safe coupling/uncoupling awareness and equipment safety basics
Assessment and certification
- Assessment: Practical demonstration and short written quiz
- Certificate: FRA‑approved course completion certificate issued by Rail Safe Training, Inc.
- Recordkeeping: Completion records available in our LMS for client access and audits
